Currumbin Animal Sanctuary, Australia - January 2008
After meticulously assessing the weather forecasts and strategizing the best day for a trip down to Currumbin, we caught a break and had a great day at this amazing park.

Surfers Paradise, Australia - December 2007/January 2008
The third and main stop of our sabbatical was hooking up with Uncle Chunghee and family at Seaworld. We wanted to make this a trip to remember so a lot of special activities with the animals were scheduled. Those were definitely the highlights for Ailey and cousins WonJae and SeungJae as well as the adults. There are many other theme parks in the area so we also made our way out to Warner Brothers Movieworld and some others. The weather was unfortunately not cooperating and we had rain and strong winds the entire time. Even the famous beach was closed to swimming and surfing the entire week (for the first time since '74)...and looking like it might be closed the next week as well. It was at least reasonably warm which made the rain bearable but the wind shut down many of the rides.
We toured "behind the scenes" at the polar bear exhibit and saw how they cared for the bears and other animals in rehabilitation.
Warner Bros. Movieworld
Shark Bay @ Seaworld
The constant rain as viewed from the underside
These smaller fur seals were super stinky!
A wally for Grandma Jody
The waterpark inside Seaworld was a great distraction during the rain.
The kids got to "swim with the rays"...
...and swim with the dolphins
A quiet new years at "home"
